Ghosts at the Blue Baths - Blades '68 (Session 3)
We opened our session with a little bit of trouble this time. After successfully stealing a few cases of golden face cream from the Plasmovision Shopping Network, the crew was trying to lay low. Dok was paying a visit to a new boutique on Apple Street when he started to sense that he was being watched. He was cornered by Detective Boyle, a shlubby bluecoats detective who had found a button from Dok’s vest at the scene of the crime. Boyle tried to shake him down, but the crew knew that Dok didn’t say a word when he showed up with pistol whip bruises and a busted eye.
Meanwhile, Helena met up with her friend Tailor from the Tomorrow Program at a brasserie. After a round of ales, Tailor made his move and revealed that he had been working her for a while. He presented Helena with a photograph - her estranged son she hadn’t seen in years. Tailor made it clear that she was working for him now and needed her help with a job. The Tomorrow Program has detected a future anomaly that will take place on the night of a gala they are hosting at the enclave. They believe that the centerpiece - a priceless work of art - is at risk of being stolen by an outside organization. Helena needs to convince Keith and the crew to take on this job.
Meanwhile, Goodridge who is an archivist frenemy of Twiggy, gave the crew a job that would involve stealing from Mirror House. Goodridge knows that they have a secret hideout within the Blue Baths, a luxury spa in the northeast corner of Duskwall. They will take on the gala protection job in a couple of weeks.
The crew decides to enter the baths in disguise, but it doesn’t quite work out as they planned. They dress up in uniforms of the bath workers but as they are entering the restricted area they are found out. The baths are very spooky and Twiggy tries to attune to the ghosts of the past here. What she finds is that this place is swimming with resonance. She also detects that some of the resonance echoes nearby are being extracted from the bath goers. She tries to tap in to the nearest one and finds she can detect some of the thoughts of a man known as ’Thistle.’
Thistle happens to be from the Palace and is unknowingly having his secrets extracted by Mirror House. He has been awarded a contract to eliminate the warden of Section 6 and has been very stressed out about this. Mirror House seems to be collecting this information, but why and to what end?
The group makes their way through the bath house and finds the office location, which has the ledger of their most recent alluvium deals. There is a guard posted outside and the office has several workers inside. Helena and Keith tag team an idea - Helena gives Keith a live Resonance Amplification Grenade and tell him to chuck it down the hallway.
Immediately, the grenade spews green smoke and a howling banshee appears! She is wearing a lacy gown with a big red bloody stain smeared across her abdomen. The guards clear out leaving an opening for Keith to grab what they came for. The crew makes off with the ledger but not before the ghost wails and throws everyone against the walls. Helena chucks a resonance dampening grenade to give them a temporary reprieve, while the crew scrambles to get out of the baths and back to their bowling alley.
